Grief & Life Transitions Therapy
in Meaford, Ontario

Grief and loss can affect us in many ways. Whether you're grieving the death of someone important, adjusting to a change in a relationship, or navigating an unexpected life transition, you may find yourself experiencing emotions that are difficult to make sense of.

Grief doesn't always follow a predictable path. You might feel sadness, anger, guilt, uncertainty, or even relief. Sometimes these feelings exist alongside one another.

At Lilystone Therapy & Wellness, I offer a supportive space to explore your experiences, understand what matters to you, and find ways to navigate change while honouring what you've lost.

In-person psychotherapy is available in Meaford, with virtual appointments offered across Ontario.

How Grief and Life Transitions
Can Affect You

Grief is not limited to the death of someone we love. It can also arise when our health changes, relationships end, responsibilities shift, or life looks different from what we expected.

You might recognize experiences such as:

  • Feeling sadness, anger, guilt, or a sense of emptiness

  • Finding it difficult to concentrate or make decisions

  • Feeling disconnected from others or unsure how to talk about your loss

  • Struggling with changes in your identity, relationships, or daily routines

  • Feeling overwhelmed by responsibilities while trying to manage your own emotions

  • Experiencing uncertainty about the future or difficulty adjusting to change

  • Feeling pressure to move forward before you're ready

Grief is a personal experience, and there is no single correct way to respond to loss. These feelings may change over time, and not everyone experiences them in the same way.

Therapy offers space to explore what you're going through, make sense of the changes in your life, and identify what support might be helpful.

How Therapy Can Help With
Grief & Life Transitions

Grief and significant life changes can affect how we see ourselves, our relationships, and our future. Therapy offers an opportunity to process these experiences while finding ways to adapt to what has changed.

My approach is collaborative and tailored to your experiences, needs, and goals. Together, we may explore:

  • Making space for grief: Understanding and expressing difficult or conflicting emotions without feeling pressured to move on.

  • Adjusting to change: Navigating shifts in identity, relationships, responsibilities, and expectations.

  • Understanding patterns: Exploring how past experiences, beliefs, and relationships may influence how you respond to loss and uncertainty.

  • Emotional regulation and coping: Developing practical strategies to manage overwhelming emotions, anxiety, and stress.

  • Meaning, values, and connection: Identifying what matters to you and exploring ways to move forward while maintaining a meaningful connection to what you've lost.

I draw on evidence-informed approaches, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)-informed strategies, attachment-informed perspectives, and grief-focused therapeutic approaches.

I also offer Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), which may be considered when distressing memories or images associated with a loss continue to affect your well-being. Whether ART is appropriate depends on your individual experiences, needs, and goals.

There is no expectation that you should grieve in a particular way or within a particular timeframe. We can work at a pace that respects your experiences and what feels manageable for you.
